Human Resources Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

RECRUITING

  • Post roles on LinkedIn, Rails website, and other recruitment sources – regular upkeep of open posts, candidates, access for hiring managers, etc.
  • Conduct first round phone screens as needed
  • Set up interviews for numerous roles/hiring managers at once
  • Manage highly detailed onboarding and offboarding processes from start to finish; conduct new hire orientations and ensure employees feel informed and comfortable on the morning of their first day

PAYROLL

  • Manage biweekly timekeeping and PTO entry for hourly employees, remaining in compliance with local wage and hour laws
  • Enter new hires and terminations in HRIS/payroll system
  • Update employee addresses, direct deposits, etc. as needed

BENEFITS

  • Enroll new hires upon receipt of enrollment form, terminate employees who leave the company and generate their COBRA documents
  • Manage employee Issues – access issues, changes due to qualifying events, address changes, etc.
  • Coordinate with Accounting Department for payment of all monthly carrier invoices
  • Support in annual open enrollment process

EMPLOYEE NEEDS

  • Support staff on their questions, comments, or concerns
  • Act as a backup for general office duties – may be asked to support with travel booking, office supply ordering, ad hoc projects as needed, etc.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of employee morale events such as happy hours, team building events, and philanthropic events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, or related field with 3+ years of experience in general HR, including payroll, recruiting, benefits administration, etc.
  • Working knowledge of California HR Law is required, especially pertaining to wage and hour regulations
  • Very strong organizational skills with high attention to detail are an absolute must for this role
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize a demanding workload and adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities
  • Personable and effective in verbal communication; strong written communication with accuracy in grammar, spelling, and syntax
  • Collaborative by nature; ability to build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional partners, both internally and externally
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus
  • Working experience in fashion or lifestyle industry in an HR capacity is a plus
